Ruby Hill Wine Tour Report
By Jim Hohenshelt
On Saturday, June 18, I led a group of 12 people
to the Ruby Hill Winery for a tour of the winery,
wine tastings, and food pairings. Margaret and I
have been members of the Ruby Hill Wine Club
for several years as they produce some favorite
wines; specifically, their Pinot Noir, Barbera, and
Sangiovese.
The tour started out in the tasting room with a
tasting of their Sparking Brut, which everyone
seemed to enjoy. Sparkling wines are not usually
my thing, but they must have been pretty good
based on how many were purchased later. Next,
we adjourned to the “bus”, which really gets your
attention. It is an old school bus that has been painted
like what I used to call a “Hippy Mobile”. It turns out
that the owners of the Ruby Hill Winery are the
founders of TOGO’s Sandwich Shops, and were
serious fans of the Grateful Dead Rock Band
several years ago. This bus is one of the buses that
the Grateful Dead used to tour the county when
they were doing concerts... (See the July 2022 Rooster for the rest of his report)
